Senior Systems Engineer
Job Description:
With the growing market demand to engineer solutions for complex problems, Vitech is currently situated to offer a unique opportunity for an experienced systems engineer. We are looking for a bright, motivated individual to apply Vitech’s systems engineering methodology and CORE® software while supporting the missions of select clients.
This person will be expected to demonstrate, articulate, customize and deliver the complete range of Vitech systems engineering solutions and services. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in concepts, practices, and procedures related to systems engineering. This position requires a team player attitude in planning and deploying systems engineering solutions within our clients’ organizations. This position reports to the Vice President of Professional Services.
This position as advertised is to fill a specific engagement opportunity on Vitech’s team supporting the Mission Assurance Division at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Va. However, the successful candidate is expected to become a long-term member of the of the Vitech technical staff. To that end we are looking for a professional with the right combination of both systems engineering technical expertise and interpersonal skills that will lead to successful client engagements at multiple locations. Vitech systems engineers are industry leaders, helping clients implement systems engineering practices while advancing the practice of systems engineering, both within Vitech as members of the larger systems engineering community. Additional responsibilities include collaboration with business development to identify and expand business opportunities. The preferred location for this position is within commuting distance to the Dahlgren Naval Surface Warfare Center, but all qualified candidates will be considered.
Specific Duties:
- Provide systems engineering mentoring and leadership to the client organization
- Help the client implement sound systems engineering practices as the basis of their developing analytical processes
- Establish and maintain applicable CORE implementation strategies for various client projects
- Maintain positive relationship between Vitech and assigned clients
- Prepare projects plans and time estimates for various assignments
- Report on strategic and tactical opportunities for Vitech in business areas related to the existing client
- Travel up to 50% to support corporate and client needs
- Full time on-site (initially) at the Dahlgren Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, VA
Minimum Requirements:
- 8+ years experience in hands on systems engineering with federal/Department of Defense agencies and commercial companies
- Strong teambuilding, organization & planning skills
- Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and relationship-building skills with clients and team members
- Self-starter & strong problem-solving skills
- Good negotiation, conflict management & customer service skills
- Experience applying Vitech’s CORE systems engineering software to solve problems
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or science. Masters Degree preferred
- Current or previously held Secret clearance (this position requires that a Secret level clearance be maintained).
- Experience applying DoDAF and other Architecture Frameworks to processes and procedures
- Understanding of defense acquisition
Additional Qualitifications, but not required
- Professional or academic teaching experience
- Recognized reputation (leadership positions, publications, etc.) within systems engineering and/or military/aerospace community
- Familiarity with DOORS, UML, and Rational Rose
