Minimum System Requirements =========================== * Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Window Vista SP2, Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows 2008 SP2, or Windows Server 2012 * PIII-compatible 2 GHz processor or faster * 2 GB RAM (Server operating systems may require more) * Installation hard drive space requirements: * GENESYS Application Files and SQL Server Express 2012 - 257 MB * Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 - 850 MB * Additional disk space required for project databases Installation and Licensing ========================== Perform the following to install the product: 1) Download the automated installer application from the Software section of our website at http://www.vitechcorp.com. 2) Run the installer. The setup will install several application prerequisites including Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 and SQL Server 2012 Express. Installation time will vary depending on the target system. Setup may require a system reboot. Please reboot if prompted to do so. 3) Upon first launch of GENESYS, you will be prompted to activate the product. There are two licensing options available during the activation process: 3.a) The first option is to use a local license which requires that a product key be entered. The product key will be emailed to you directly from Vitech prior to installation. If you wish to use a local license and have not yet received a product key, please contact Vitech Customer Support or your Vitech sales representative. After submitting the product key, GENESYS will attempt to automatically activate with Vitech's servers using the system's internet connection. You will receive confirmation when GENESYS has been successfully activated. If no internet connection is available, GENESYS must be manually activated. To manually activate, select the "Save Request" button in the lower right portion of the wizard. Then, copy the license request to a computer with internet access and email it to licensing@vitechcorp.com. Vitech will respond with a license file along with instructions on how to apply it. If you are unable to email the license request file due to security or other reasons, please contact Vitech Customer Support for further licensing instructions. 3.b) The second option is to use a network license. In order to use this option, your network administrator must have configured a network capable license on your network to host licenses on your network. If this option is selected, GENESYS will search the local area network for available licenses each time it starts up. Migrating Data to GENESYS 4.1 ============================= GENESYS can natively import XML files exported from CORE. To import a CORE XML file, select the "Import" option from the ribbon's main application menu, and follow the steps in the wizard to select the desired file. If importing a GNSX file from GENESYS 4.0, simply use the import command. If importing a GNSX file from GENESYS 3.0, use the Migration Schema wizard located on the Project tab of the ribbon. Getting Started =============== The installation program will create a new program group entry on the start menu with the title "GENESYS 4.1 Collaborative Edition." It contains an icon labeled "GENESYS 4.1 Collaborative Edition." Simply click on this shortcut to launch the application. Default Account Name and Password --------------------------------- GENESYS ships with one user account preconfigured - the Administrator account. To log in, use the account name "Administrator" and password "admin" (without quotes) when prompted at the login dialog. At that point, new users can be created and passwords may be changed via the Administrative Tools utility. Local Repository ---------------- GENESYS Collaborative Edition leverages Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express as its local data store. SQL Server is a widely used transactional database system. SQL Server Express is a free version of SQL Server with the following limitations: * 10 GB per database * Uses no more than 1 processor * Uses no more than 1 GB of internal memory Each change - entity creation, attribute update, etc. - is persisted to the database in real time. Therefore, there is no need to save changes to the model before exiting the application. Upgrading from GENESYS 4.0 ========================== To upgrade from GENESYS 4.0 soimply run the installer. This will remove the GENESYS 4.0 program and then install GENESYS 4.1 program. Your data, including users and groups, will remain intact. You will remain on SQL Server 2008 Express R2. If you want to upgrade to SQL Server Express 2012 then export all your data, uninstall GENSYS 4.0, uninstall SQL Server Express R2, and then install GENESYS. Uninstalling GENESYS ==================== To remove GENESYS from your system, select Add/Remove Programs from the Windows control panel. Select GENESYS 4.1 Collaborative Edition from the list of applications available to uninstall and click the Add/Remove or Uninstall button. Follow the instructions provided by the installer to remove the application. Reporting Problems/Making Product Suggestions ============================================= If you should encounter a problem with the software (an error, a deficiency, a feature that works in a manner other than you expected, or a problem with any associated documentation), please notify us via e-mail, phone, or fax as indicated below. Any information you can provide in your report regarding the hardware and software configuration of the host machine, the circumstances in which the problem occurred, conditions to reproduce the problem, and such test data as you can reasonably provide to assist Vitech in reproducing the problem would be greatly appreciated.
